frequently asked questions
for children
what are the first steps?
Please get in touch using the contact details form on the ‘contact’ page. We can then arrange a phone call so that together we can determine if the blue sky is a suitable option for your child. If so, our next step will be to schedule a session with both parents prior to commencing sessions with your child.
do I need a referral?
Your child does not need a referral to attend the blue sky, however, if you wish to claim a rebate under the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, you will need to arrange for your child to see their GP prior to our first session in order to determine their eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan. This plan is prepared by a GP in a consultation along with a letter of referral.
what are the costs?
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are $160.
We charge a simple all-inclusive session fee rather than bill separately for the individual elements that are part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Further detail on inclusions will be provided prior to commencing treatment .
are there rebates available?
Child session: If your child has a Mental Health Care Plan, the current rebate is $87.45, therefore the gap payment is $72.55. Alternatively, if you have private health insurance with extras, you may be able to claim a portion of the cost of a session with your private health insurer. Please get in touch with them directly to find out more.
Parent session: Please note that parent sessions are not able to be covered under a child’s Mental Health Care Plan, as such there is not a rebate through Medicare for these sessions. However, if you have private health insurance with extras, you may be able to claim a rebate for the session. Please get in touch with them directly to find out more.
