frequently asked questions
**on maternity leave as we welcome the newest member of our family - returning to practice in 2023**
what are the first steps?
Please get in touch using the contact details form. We can then arrange a phone call so that together we can determine if the blue sky is a suitable option for yourself, or for your child.
If it is a suitable option for your child, our next step will be to schedule a session with both parents prior to commencing sessions with your child.
do I need a referral?
You or your child do not need a referral to attend the blue sky, however, if you wish to claim a rebate under the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, you will need to arrange for yourself or your child to see your GP prior to our first session in order to determine eligibility for a Mental Health Care Plan. This plan is prepared by a GP in a consultation along with a letter of referral.
what are the costs?
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are $160.
We charge a simple all-inclusive session fee rather than bill separately for the individual elements that are part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Further detail on inclusions will be provided prior to commencing treatment .
are there rebates available?
for children
If your child has a Mental Health Care Plan, the current rebate is $87.45, therefore the gap payment is $72.55. Alternatively, if you have private health insurance with extras, you may be able to claim a portion of the cost of a session with your private health insurer. Please note that parent sessions (which are part of a child’s treatment) are not able to be covered under a child’s Mental Health Care Plan, as such there is not a rebate through Medicare for these sessions. However, if you have private health insurance with extras, you may be able to claim a rebate for the session.

how do I make payment?
Payment can be made via credit / debit card, or by direct deposit at the end of the session. A receipt will be emailed which can be used to claim the refund back from Medicare or your private health fund. For telehealth sessions, payment can be made at the time of session through the secure online telehealth platform.
